The lonely dog

The dog had been sleeping peacefully in the ruins of an old building when he woke up to a sweet, familiar smell. It was a scent he remembered from long ago, before the world had turned to ash and dust. The dog sniffed the air, trying to locate the source of the smell.

The city around him was desolate and empty, a wasteland of crumbling buildings and abandoned streets. The dog had grown up in this world, scavenging for scraps and trying to survive. But the sweet smell was different, it was something he knew from before.

The dog set out to track the scent, his nose leading him through the ruined city. He sniffed everywhere, under every piece of rubble and around every corner, but the source of the smell eluded him.

For five days, the dog walked, covering over 100 miles in his search. He crossed empty highways and climbed over piles of debris. He passed through once-thriving neighborhoods that were now nothing more than ghost towns.

The dog was tired and hungry, but he refused to give up. The sweet smell was too familiar, too compelling to ignore. Though he knew not what it was. It pulled at him, urging him forward, and he pressed on with a dogged determination.

As the days passed, the dog grew weaker, his energy waning. But the smell was always there, a constant reminder of what he was searching for. He became desperate, his nose leading him to more dangerous and treacherous places.

And then finally, the smell became more intense. As if he was close to the source. He lifted his head up and looked around. A dark figure stood in the distance. The dog recognized the shape from a time before. But did not know what it was.

The dog took a step back as he saw a piece of the shadow seperate and lift up. The dog now heard a sound coming from the figure. He did not understand the sound but it felt inviting.

More peices of the shadowy figure seemed to separate. The tipped his head sideways trying to understand what was happening. He did not understand what he was seeing.

The dog heard a loud popping sound and a flash of light. A sharp pain came all of a sudden and then everything faded to black. As the dog opened his eyes he saw everything was red and blurred. The dark figure was now standing over him. All he could now smell was the darkness as it slowly took him.
